It's my Half-Birthday!

I am 6 months old today!! It's hard to believe how much I've grown and changed in half a year. Even in the last couple days I've done some new things: I am doing more and more baby push-ups, getting ready to crawl. I ate peas yesterday; the first bite was yucky, but they grew on me. I think it's hilarious when someone stomps or jumps in front of me. I am getting better at getting Cheerios in my mouth.
I will be sure to keep you updated on all the new stuff I'm sure to be doing in the next days and weeks!

Love,
the half-birthday-girl, Ruthie

Photo Challenge 10

This week's challenge was "passage of time/growth". I had a hard time coming up with ideas this time...until Friday. I kind of took the "passage of time" part and ran with it. This didn't give me a ton of time to figure out exactly what I wanted to do. But, I tried some new things, and actually had to drive places to take these. I had hoped the second one would be more "sunset-y", and I'm not very experienced with night shots. I think I could have gotten some better shots if I gave myself more time. Anyway, here they are--enjoy!

Lots of News!

I've been pretty busy lately. I've learned and done lots of new things since last week. Here's a brief overview. Be sure to check out the new pictures (link on right) to see more!

We went to visit Grandma & Grandpa R for the weekend. While we were there I did a lot of playing on the floor and learned how to roll from my tummy to my back. Now Mom will have to do a better job of keeping the floor clean! Here I am playing with Daddy's foot :)

It was pretty nice outside, so I also went for a walk....in an actual stroller! (Not the carseat snapped into its frame.) It was pretty bright so we didn't stay out too long. But I liked being able to see everything around me.
Grandma & Grandpa have a big whirlpool tub, so mom took me "swimming". It was a lot of fun! I did some floating, kicking, splashing, and licking :)

As if the busy weekend wasn't enough, I had a doctor's appointment on Monday! It was my 6-month checkup, about a week early. I weighed in at 17 lb 11 oz, and measured 26 inches--90th and 75th percentile, respectively. I am very healthy, and looking forward to eating more new foods. :)

Photo Challenge

This week we were to take one (and only one) picture of ourself each day. No deleting. No tweaking. One chance to get it right. Needless to say, I didn't really get it 'right' every day. But here are my photos:

A couple new videos

Ruthie has been soooo cute lately that I just couldn't help shooting some video of her. Sorry it is not very good quality, but it doesn't detract much from her cuteness!
The first one is playing peek-a-boo. I think the surprise and the loud "peek-a-boo" from mom are what really makes her laugh. She had been laughing even harder before I dug out the camera.

One of Ruth's favorite 'games' is when we dangle a blanket in front of her face. She just loves it! Today she was in her swing, and I was playing with her. She got really excited when I covered her with the blanket. I love how she kicks and flails when she's happy!

Food Photo Challenge

This week's challenge was to take 3,5, or 7 pictures of food that built upon eachother. Mine for this week are relatively simple...but let me know what you think!

Eating real food!

This week I started eating real food. I mean real food like big people eat...sort of... The only difference is that it's all mushed up because I don't have teeth yet. That's the excuse mom and dad give me all the time when I try to eat their food-- "you can't have this, you don't have teeth yet." Boy, I can't wait to get teeth, whatever they are. But this mushy stuff isn't too bad either. I have been eating rice cereal and oatmeal for about a month already. And Sunday mom gave me this orage stuff that tasted really different! But it ended up being really good :) They called it 'sweet potatoes'. Here's a couple photos from my first taste of real food:

Macro Photo Challenge

This weeks challenge was to take really close-up pictures that aren't immediately recognizable. I had a lot of fun with this one, and actually have a theme this week! :) See if you can figure it out!

sleepy baby

I've been taking lots of naps the last couple of days. I have a really stuffy nose that makes it hard to sleep at night :( Any suggestions for getting rid of this?? I also usually end up sleeping on my tummy. This is nice and comfy, but when I want to flip over to my back, I find that I am stuck! Then I have to cry and wake mom up to do it for me. She hopes I learn to roll onto my back by myself soon.
